68.  Down By The Jetty. (LP). Dr Feelgood. 1975.
Before 'Punk' there was 'Pub Rock', a London/Home Counties based music that borrowed heavily from soul, blues and r'n'b. Bands such as Kilburn & The Highroads (Ian Dury), The 101ers (Joe Strummer) and Brinsley Schwartz (Nick Lowe) were playing the London pub circuit and gaining the attention of the music press. Chief among the 'Pub Rock' bands was Dr Feelgood, a hard rocking blues band from Canvey Island.
They played the pub circuit for four years before recording their first album 'Down By The Jetty', an album that was to influence bands such as Blondie, Television, The Ramones and Talking Heads, who all credited Dr Feelgood as an influence, even though Dr Feelgood failed to make an impact with the U.S audience. In the UK, the Dr Feelgood were so popular that their second album 'Stupidity' was a 1976 #1 and in 77 they made the top ten singles chart with 'Milk & Alcohol'.
